How many Americans on either side know that Trump's position on abortion is the same as Ruth Bader Ginsburg's?

I enjoyed the interview too, although I think you are unduly critical about JD either not knowing EVERYTHING there is to know on EVERY subject. And I think you would be very pleasantly surprised if you watched Trump’s interview with Rohan. It was excellent in tone and substance.

agreed. Why would JD Vance know about the history of hemp or other drugs? Given he grew up with an addict, he might have a viewpoint that drugs aren’t helpful. Regardless, they’re not a part of his life. And yes, if you claim to follow the wisdom of RFK Jr. then the Trump/Rogan podcast is a must. How can one continue to claim that you have no interest in knowing who Trump is if Bobby has asked you to please vote for him?

I'm looking forward to listening to the Vance podcast. I listened to the Trump one, and though I shared your concerns about articulation, I was surprised that I was able to follow most of his thought trains.

I listened as well, the first JRE for me actually. I figured if RFK Jr. wants me to vote for him, I better take some time to get to know him. I was amazed at how much I enjoyed Trump. The programming within me is still strong, but Trump was thoroughly interesting and he is obviously interested in many topics. His curiosity is charming.

I was surprisingly very impressed with Vance. He was calm, sincere, and knowledgeable. It was a great interview, and I am glad I watched it instead of listening to the rhetoric and smears.

Does his association with Peter Thiel (Palantir, a very dark company) mean anything...Thiel is also a major Trump donor....This election has only one choice ,however, if Trump gets / is allowed in, it is only sand in the gears of the globalist cabal...We must all rally to recover our country...if we can..

Listen to these Palestinian Democratic leaders who feel hurt by Kamala - https://peterbeinart.substack.com/p/ruwa-romman-and-rania-batrice?utm_source=podcast-email&publication_id=105260&post_id=151046197&utm_campaign=email-play-on-substack&utm_content=watch_now_button&r=f1fx8&triedRedirect=true&utm_medium=email

The Abraham accords hurt the Palestinian caused more hopelessness which led to Oct 7. The Arab Peace Initiative was much better. I dislike Trump and Kamala but she has more potential and some good people on her team and owes the Palestinians and she knows it. I haven't voted yet and live in DC. I may vote for Jill Stein of Kamala.

I won't vote for Trump. I'm in California so it isn't necessary to compromise my basic principals just because I see Harris as a much greater threat. I couldn't bring myself to vote for a man who put 'operation warp speed' in motion and still brags about covid vaccines; who seems just as under the thumb of the Israel lobby as Harris. However, if I was in a swing state, I'd hold my nose and vote for the orange clown, because RFK, Jr has joined his campaign, and at least The People chose Trump. That's not what happened in Harris' case. A handful of billionaires bypassed the democratic process and installed her to "save democracy."

But there is another reason I'm not so keen on Trump as president. I don't trust JD Vance. With Trump in the literal cross hairs of assassins, I see Vance as a deep state trojan horse. After all, he is largely a creation of Peter Thiel, a man who by my estimation is as much a globalist as Bill Gates or any international banker. I hope I'm wrong about Vance. But I don't think I am.

I may be getting away from the subject of your essay. And may be not. Here are the obvious things to which discussions and reflections have led me.

But, at this critical moment, is it worth saying this?

The current division is blatant.

The Liberals are against or afraid of the Conservatives. The Conservatives are against or afraid of the Liberals.

Who are the ones benefiting from the conflict and the division?

We know.

Neither conservatives/republicans nor liberals/democrats are a monolithic bloc.

In the first we find the right-wing extremist.

In the second we find the left-wing extremist-woke.

No fascist, neither on one side nor the other.

For this one is of a class apart, formed by "those who profit from division", whatever their colour.

In both "camps" there is a majority of ordinary, sincere, well-intentioned people, concerned about violence, who want democracy, freedom, peace in the world.

What will happen the day after the vote? I'm not American. But I still hold my breath.

After this election, how will it be possible to restore the unity of the people?

Possibly by recognizing that everyone is human beings with the right to live according to their principles and opinions, and that it is only together that we can move forward.

Here too, I believe that "those who profit from this division" will do everything to prevent this from being possible.

Still hoping for a peacefull resolution.

Thanks so much for this. I will check out the video. I was impressed with the VP debate and exceedingly grateful to show a model of mutual respect and politeness that we never see. Both were lightyears ahead of their running mates in knowledge nd substance. It was a gift to our country. I was touched by the movie "Hillbilly Elegies." People I know think JD is evil to the core, dangerous and hate that he presented as nice in the debate. I think he has depth and complexity and is in the category of people I deem as "educable." You give the impression that Joe Rogan respectfully raised his consciousness about some things. It is possible but not guaranteed. Of course he said some things that are extremely troublesome. Larry Wilkerson said that he heard that some people, like Peter Thiel, believe that Trump won't make it for 4 years and they have groomed JD and are counting on him to do their bidding. It is complicated but not necessarily black and white, all or nothing and much is up to us to create an environment that brings out the best in people. Btw, I am not voting for Trump. I live in DC. I am a horrified Jew who cares about Palestinian rights and have lived in Israel and been to Gaza in 1997 & 1999 and transforming that conflict and replacing war with conflict transformation is my highest priority

If your last statement is true, then why wouldn’t you vote for Trump? It’s true he’s pro-Israel, but the Abraham Accords was a step toward peace through business relations in the Middle East. Trump isn’t out to win hearts, he’s out to win deals, and his main motive in the ME was to broker business deals between the countries. Yes, that included sanctioning Iran since they tend to use their extra cash on terrorist endeavors against Israel, but peace in the ME was good for Gaza. Good for Palestine indirectly. Harris will continue to fund the bombings against those people as well as in Lebanon and elsewhere. She is pro-war. Trump is the only president to not start or fund some sort of proxy war in decades. Perhaps since 1980. Look what Harris has done.
